Series of mixed media works on paper
collage and acrylic paint

“Faces of Travellers and Their Imaginary Maps” arose from a spontaneous experiment with collage techniques, a bunch of old books found on the street and my desire to create a connection between the old and the new.
Adventurous faces of people who have traveled a lot and carry maps with them. The maps represent non-existent physical places, but they draw boundaries, indicate certain emotions or philosophical views.
The Travellers and their maps are connected through a common language composed of historical fragments (these are pieces of text or images from books). The old becomes new and transforms into landmark, defining borders.
The Travelers’ faces are shifted, somehow curious. Sometimes they look like cave paintings, but with a new eye cut out from the “history”.
